Silvan Trim, Transitions & Stair Pieces

We offer a complete family of solid oak trim, transition, and stair pieces in each coordinating Silvan color. The right piece depends on where you need it.

Trim & Transitions
  • End Cap: terminates the floor against a vertical surface where a baseboard won't work, sliding doors, hearths, exterior thresholds.
  • Quarter Round: covers the expansion gap when keeping existing baseboards, or where the floor meets cabinets.
  • T-Molding: bridges two floors of the same height, doorways, thresholds, or carpet transitions.
  • Reducer: steps down from Silvan to a lower surface, subfloor, tile, or a thinner adjacent floor.
Stair Options
  • Full Stair Tread (48" × 12"): covers individual steps with closed returns in one piece. Not for top steps, landings, or open returns.
  • Nosing (Round or Square, 74.8"): works on individual steps, top steps, and landings, and can be mitered for a return on open-edged stairs.
Installation Notes
  • All pieces install with construction adhesive. Lightly sand the underside first to promote adhesion. Construction adhesive is typically repositionable for 30 minutes.
  • Dry fit before gluing. Measure, cut with a power saw, and confirm the fit before applying adhesive.
  • Respect the expansion gap. End Cap and T-Molding both need a 1¼" gap. Cutting it too tight can cause buckling.
  • Full Stair Tread is for individual steps only. Use a Nosing for top steps, landings, and open-return staircases.

Common Questions

Will the trim and stair pieces match my Silvan floor exactly?
All pieces are solid oak stained to match Silvan flooring. Because they're solid oak rather than engineered planks, expect minor natural variation in grain and tone, the same character you see across the floor itself.

What length does each piece come in?
The Full Stair Tread is 12" × 48". Every other piece, both Nosings, End Cap, Quarter Round, T-Molding, and Reducer, comes in 74.8" lengths.

Do I need underlayment for stairs?
Stair treads and nosings glue directly to the stair substrate. Underlayment is not needed on stairs and should not be applied.
