Can I Install Modin in a 3-Season Room?

Modin LVP should be installed in an indoor climate-controlled location that is between 65°F and 85°F, for best performance. During the life of the floor, the floors can handle a temporary wider range, from 0°F to 140°F.

Sun Exposure and UV Fading

Modin's UV-protective coating slows fading but isn't designed to resist prolonged direct sunlight indefinitely. In a sun-heavy 3-season room, the floor can fade over time, darker colors show it more.

Curtains, blinds, or UV-filtering window film during peak sun hours help slow the process. Fading is cosmetic, not structural, it doesn't affect performance or waterproofing, but it's also not covered under warranty.

Installation Requirements

The room must be climate-controlled to 65°F–85°F during installation, regardless of its year-round range, this acclimates the subfloor and neighboring materials, not just the planks. If your room isn't heated or cooled, schedule installation for a time of year when it naturally falls in that range.

Common Questions

What if my room drops below freezing?

Modin planks may contract slightly, typically minor and tolerable, but below the recommended range. If your room regularly hits freezing in winter, installing Modin is not recommended as this installation would be outside of the warranty.

Will the floor buckle or warp from temperature swings?

The SPC core is highly stable, and the standard required 1/4" expansion gap accommodates normal movement within Modin's temperature tolerance to avoid buckling or warping.

Does Modin need extra acclimation for a 3-season room?

The same procedure as any room will apply, 65°F–85°F before and during installation, and acclimation recommended for 24-48 hrs.

Can I install other collections in a 3-season room?

Modin is best-suited given its temperature tolerance and waterproof construction. Arista, Silvan, and Provence need tighter climate control and would not be recommended.
