Can I Install Over an Existing Floor?
It depends on the collection and what's underneath. The condition of the existing floor matters as much as the type.
If you are installing Modin LVP, Arista Laminate, or Silvan Resilient Hardwood you should remove the existing flooring and install directly on the subfloor whenever possible.
When removal is not possible, these floors can go over single-layer resilient flooring, tile, ceramic, marble, and terrazzo, so long as it is in good condition, with no moisture issues and is securely adhered to the subfloor (not floating). ⚠️Never install over heavily cushioned floors, floating floors, carpet, or below-grade tile.
A note on wood and laminate: Installing over wood or lower-quality laminate on a concrete slab can trap subfloor moisture and warp the underlying floor. Removing it and going directly on the slab is the safer option.
