How to Clean and Maintain Arista Laminate Floors

Arista’s AC5 wear layer and aluminum oxide finish handle everyday wear well. Keep grit off the surface and moisture out of the seams, and your floors will stay looking great for years

  • Daily cleaning: Soft-bristle broom, microfiber dust mop, or vacuum (beater bar off). Avoid: stiff brushes. Beater bar on.
  • Wet mopping: Laminate-safe cleaner on a well-wrung microfiber mop. Avoid: standing water, wet mopping, steam.
  • Cleaners: pH-neutral laminate-safe formulas. Diluted ammonia for occasional deep cleaning. Avoid: wax, "mop and shine" products, harsh cleaners.
  • Rug pads: Natural fiber rugs. Natural rubber pads with no added adhesives. Avoid: pads with glues or adhesives.
  • Furniture: Felt pads (min. 1") on all legs. Wide non-marking rubber casters. Avoid: dragging. Narrow hard casters without a chair mat.
  • Sunlight: Drapes or blinds during peak hours. Rotate rugs periodically. Avoid: sustained heat above 80°F with direct sunlight.

Daily Cleaning

Sweep or dust mop a few times a week, grit is the main cause of surface wear. Vacuum on a hard-surface setting with the beater bar off. Place walk-off mats at every exterior entrance.

Routine Cleaning

Use a laminate-safe cleaner on a well-wrung microfiber mop. Spray the mop, not the floor. For occasional deep cleaning, diluted ammonia is permitted, use sparingly and wipe dry immediately after. No steam mops. Steam dulls the finish and pushes moisture into seams.

Spills and Stains

Wipe up spills immediately, standing liquid can work into seams and cause swelling.

Prevention

Felt pads (1" minimum) on all furniture legs. Lift, don't drag, use a Masonite panel for heavy items. Wide non-marking rubber casters or a hard-floor chair mat under rolling chairs. Drapes or blinds during peak sun hours. Rotate rugs so the floor ages evenly. Arista's AC5 wear layer handles pet claw traffic well, keep nails trimmed and wipe accidents promptly.

Common Questions

Is Arista waterproof?

Water-repellent, not waterproof. Wipe spills promptly, standing water can seep into seams over time.

Do not use a steam mop on Arista. Use a damp microfiber mop with a laminate-safe cleaner.

What rugs and pads are safe?

Natural-fiber rugs and natural rubber pads with no added adhesives.

Will sunlight damage my floor?

Prolonged UV gradually fades any floor. Use window treatments during peak hours and avoid sustained heat above 80°F combined with direct sunlight.
