Which type of flooring is right for me?

LVP, laminate, or engineered hardwood, here's how Flooret's four collections compare and how to find the right fit for your space.

The right floor depends on what your space demands. Modin LVP is the all-around pick and the only floor we recommend without reservation for moisture-prone rooms. Arista Laminate has the hardest, most scratch-resistant surface. Silvan is real hardwood you can install yourself. Provence is our most premium option, a refinishable European White Oak for showcase spaces. Full specs for each are below.

Modin LVP

The most versatile floor in the lineup. Radiant heat compatible with the widest temperature tolerance we offer. Modin comes in four formats: Signature (9" wide), Craftsman (3.4" narrow plank), Herringbone (pattern), and Base (6" plank).

  • Build: virgin PVC wear layer over an SPC core (60–70% limestone, 30–40% PVC), attached IXPE underlayment (1 mm on Base, 1.5 mm on others)
  • Thickness: 5 mm (Base), 7 mm (Signature, Craftsman, Herringbone)
  • Water: fully waterproof
  • Install: floating, DIY-friendly
  • Warranty: 80-year "Lifetime" residential, 20-year commercial (10-year on Base)

Arista Laminate

The hardest surface in the lineup: an AC5 wear rating with Level 4 scratch resistance, plus an antimicrobial finish for hygiene-focused households. Oversized planks and ultra-realistic textures bring the beauty of a natural wood look built to handle daily life.

  • Build: AC5 scratch-resistant surface over a water-resistant HDF core, 2 mm attached IXPE underlayment (some previous versions cork)
  • Thickness: 14 mm
  • Water: water-resistant, not fully waterproof
  • Install: floating, DIY-friendly
  • Warranty: 80-year "Lifetime" residential, 15-year commercial

Silvan Resilient Hardwood

A genuine FSC-certified oak surface without the climate sensitivity of traditional engineered hardwood. Radiant heat compatible to 80°F, Silvan offers unique durability in a real wood floor at a fraction of the price.

  • Build: FSC 100% real hardwood veneer on a cured wood composite core with birch backing, no attached underlayment
  • Thickness: 9.2 mm
  • Water: topically waterproof
  • Install: floating or glue down, DIY-friendly
  • Warranty: 80-year "Lifetime" residential, 10-year commercial
  • Certifications: Greenguard Gold, CARB, FSC

Provence Natural Hardwood

Our most premium option. Genuine European White Oak, a 3–4 mm sawn veneer (refinishable) on a eucalyptus plywood core. Great for primary living spaces where aesthetics are paramount, and for customers looking for a top-of-the-line engineered wood floor that will age beautifully.

  • Build: European White Oak sawn veneer (3–4 mm, refinishable) on eucalyptus plywood with eucalyptus backing, no attached underlayment
  • Thickness: 14.3 mm (7.5" width), 15.88 mm (10.25" width)
  • Water: not waterproof or water-resistant
  • Install: nail or glue down, certified professional installation required
  • Warranty: Limited Lifetime residential, 10-year light commercial

Common Questions

Is LVP the same as laminate?
LVP and Laminate are two different flooring types that offer unique benefits. LVP has a PVC wear layer and a rigid (SPC or WPC) core, making it 100% waterproof. Laminate has a laminated print film wear layer and a wood-fiber (HDF) core. When the core is waxed like our Arista's, the laminate is water-resistant but not fully waterproof.

Which is best for pets?
Modin is widely considered the most versatile and pet-friendly due to its waterproof qualities, up to 40 mil wear layer, and easy cleanup. Arista is a strong second, with its top-of-the-line scratch resistance. Silvan features a uniquely tough top layer built to stand up to everyday life with kids and pets, if you prefer a real wood product.

What's the difference between Silvan and Provence?
Both have real hardwood surfaces. Silvan has a 0.6 mm veneer and clicks in without a pro. Provence has a 3–4 mm sawn veneer, requires nail or glue-down by a certified installer, and is refinishable.
