Provence Trim, Transitions & Stair Pieces
Provence Natural Hardwood has a full range of matching solid oak trim, transition, and stair pieces. The right piece depends on your plank width (7.5" or 10"), where your floor terminates, and what it's meeting.
Stair Pieces
Most staircases use both: Full Stair Tread for closed steps mid-run, and a Nosing for the top step, landings, and open-return edges. Nosings are width-specific and come in Square (modern) or Round (traditional) profiles, purely a visual choice.
- Full Stair Tread (Provence 7.5" & 10"): individual closed steps mid-run
- 7.5" Nosing, Square/Round (Provence 7.5" only): top steps, landings, open-return stairs
- 10" Nosing, Square/Round (Provence 10" only): top steps, landings, open-return stairs
Trim & Transition Pieces
T-Molding and Quarter Round are universal, they work with either Provence width. Reducers and End Caps are width-specific
- T-Molding (7.5" & 10"): same-height transitions between two finished floors
- Quarter Round (7.5" & 10"): perimeter trim against baseboard, covers expansion gap
- 7.5" / 10" Reducer (width-specific): transitioning down to a lower surface, tile, vinyl, subfloor
- 7.5" / 10" End Cap (width-specific): terminating against a fixed surface where baseboard won't fit
Choosing the Right Width
- Provence 7.5": universal pieces: full Stair Tread, Quarter Round, T-Molding. Width-specific pieces: 7.5" Nosing, 7.5" Reducer, 7.5" End Cap.
- Provence 10": universal pieces: full Stair Tread, Quarter Round, T-Molding. Width-specific pieces: 10" Nosing, 10" Reducer, 10" End Cap.
Combining both widths in one home? Use universal pieces throughout and order width-specific pieces only where needed.
Installation Notes
Provence requires professional installation, fully glued or nailed down, never floated. DIY voids the warranty. Trim, transition, and stair pieces are installed alongside the planks by your flooring professional, following the same acclimation and moisture testing requirements.
Expansion gaps around every room perimeter are covered by Quarter Round, End Caps, and T-Moldings. All pieces are cut to length on site, dry-fit, then permanently attached.
