What Is Silvan Flooring Made Of?
Silvan is real hardwood flooring, engineered with the resilience and ease of modern alternatives, without sacrificing the authenticity of natural wood.
Construction at a Glance
- Wear Layer: 0.6 mm (22 mil) FSC-certified oak
- Protective Finish: UV-cured acrylic
- Core: High-density cured wood composite
- Backing: Birch
- Total Thickness: 9.2 mm
Plank Options
Silvan is offered in two plank options:
-
Silvan 7": A 7.21” × 78.74” plank / 27.13 sq ft per box
- Silvan 6": A 5.94” × 46.06” plank / 17.11 sq ft per box
The Wear Layer:
At 0.6 mm, Silvan's oak wear layer is precision-thin by design:
- More dent-resistant. Impregnated with wood powder and backed by a high-density composite core, 3× more dent-resistant than traditional engineered hardwood.
- More sustainable. Fewer oak trees per square foot. Every plank is FSC-certified from responsibly managed forests.
- More affordable. The efficient construction delivers a real hardwood floor well below the market average for comparable products.
Certifications
- Greenguard Gold: Low chemical emissions, safe for homes with children
- FSC Certified: Wood from responsibly managed forests
- CARB Compliant: Meets California formaldehyde emission standards
Refinishing
Silvan isn't designed to be sanded and refinished, it's designed not to need it, backed by a lifetime residential warranty. If a plank is damaged, the click system makes single-plank replacement straightforward without disturbing the rest of the floor or the cost of a full refinish.
